Background of the Study
Agricultural cooperatives in Otukpo Local Government Area (LGA) play a significant role in enhancing the livelihoods of farmers. However, these cooperatives often face difficulties in managing their finances due to outdated or manual accounting systems. The adoption of Accounting Information Systems (AIS) could improve financial management, increase operational efficiency, and ensure better utilization of funds. However, challenges such as technical knowledge gaps, high implementation costs, and resistance to change hinder the adoption of AIS in these cooperatives.
Statement of the Problem
Despite the potential benefits of AIS, agricultural cooperatives in Otukpo LGA have been slow to adopt these systems. This has led to inefficiencies, inaccurate financial reporting, and poor decision-making within the cooperatives.
